Alfalfa

Alfalfa

Alfalfa is a perennial legume used for hay and forage.  Alfalfa is the most widely grown forage legume in the United States.  Perennials such as alfalfa protect the soil over winter and provide wildlife habitat.  Alfalfa fixes nitrogen and two years of growing alfalfa can provide most of the nitrogen needs for a subsequent corn crop.
